Key Advocacy Work

Hood County, Texas (2015)

As Chair of the ALA’s GLBTRT, co-authored a formal defense of challenged materials and testified before the Hood County Commissioners’ Court. The case drew national attention and concluded with affirmation of the books’ place in the collection.

Later cited in a joint investigation by The Texas Tribune and ProPublica as an early indicator of the national book banning movement.
